ESTABLISHED 2024
MONOLITH was founded on a single conviction: that architecture is the most permanent form of cultural expression. We do not simply sell homes. We identify, curate, and place works of built art with people who understand what they represent.
OUR STORYABOUT US
MONOLITH exists at the intersection of architecture and acquisition. We are a curated platform for extraordinary residential property — spaces defined not by square footage or postcode, but by the quality of thought behind their construction.
Our approach is editorial rather than transactional. Every property in our portfolio has been assessed by an architectural committee. We ask not only whether a home is desirable, but whether it deserves to exist — whether it advances the conversation around how people should inhabit space.
We work with a select group of clients who share this conviction. People who understand that the right home does not merely provide shelter; it shapes perception, deepens experience, and accrues meaning over time. For these clients, we offer access to properties that are rarely, if ever, listed on the open market.
A CHRONICLE OF CONSIDERED WORK
2018
Julian Vance and Elara Koss established MONOLITH in London with a mandate to represent only architecturally significant residential property. The first year saw three acquisitions — each a landmark in its own right.
2020
Offices opened in Zurich and Copenhagen, extending the portfolio into the Nordic and Alpine markets. Marcia Thorne joined as Estate Strategist, bringing a decade of investment expertise to the practice.
2022
The MONOLITH editorial platform launched, establishing the firm's voice as a critical authority on residential architecture. Readership reached 200,000 within the first year of publication.
2024
A New York presence was established, completing a transatlantic network spanning twelve cities. The portfolio now represents properties across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
HOW WE WORK
I. CURATION
Every property we represent is reviewed by our architectural committee. Fewer than one in twelve submissions meets our criteria. This is not exclusivity for its own sake — it is a commitment to quality that our clients depend on.
II. DISCRETION
Many of our most significant transactions never appear in any public record. We operate on trust, confidentiality, and long-term relationships. Our clients' privacy is not a feature — it is a founding value.
III. PERSPECTIVE
We approach every acquisition with a critical eye shaped by decades of engagement with the built environment. Our team includes architects, historians, and market specialists — people who can articulate why a space matters.
IV. LEGACY
The properties we place are not investments in the conventional sense. They are acquisitions of cultural significance. Their value deepens not simply with time, but with understanding — and that is what we help our clients develop.
